
Civil Society in the Hungarian ODA
The Hungarian MFA, the UNDP and HUN-IDA has organized a Conference on Development Cooperation for the national NGOs. The concept of the seminar is to give first hand information and build the capacity of Hungarian NGOs for International Development Cooperation.
Mr. Gábor Szentiványi, Deputy Secretary of State, and Ms. Ibolya Bárány, Director of HUN-IDA opened the workshop.
Ms. Nóra Sasvári from the Prime Minister’s Office, Department of Civil Connections, presented to the audience the legal background for the civil organizations, the governmental bodies' tasks and role in developing Hungarian NGOs.
Ms. Katrin Pröll, the representative of the Austrian TRIALOG, gave the next presentation. She introduced her institution as an umbrella organization for NGOs, and the possibilities for the civil sphere after the EU accession.
Mr. Richard Lewartowsky, representative of EC Humanitarian Aid Office, ECHO closed the conference. In his presentation he spoke about the role of ECHO, the role of NGOs in humanitarian assistance, and the technical background of tendering possibilities.
