Welcome to HUN-IDA!
- Why do Hungarian tax payers have to make a contribution to the mitigation of poverty in countries outside the borders of Hungary?
- Why do our citizens have to worry about the question of stability in the Balkans?
- What can Hungary give Vietnam to promote its transition to market economy?
- How can Hungarian development experts, the private sector, and NGOs make a more active and effective contribution to international development programmes?
These are only a few of the questions which HUN-IDA deals with day after day and provides answers to through its targeted programmes.
In 2001 the need arose for a new, modern, independent organisation that is open to the present challenges of international development, and which can also defend and uphold the valuable international, professional, country and cultural knowledge that has been accumulated over the past decades in the form of institutional knowledge. This is why HUN-IDA Magyar Nemzetközi Fejlesztési Segítségnyújtási Kht. was called to life and registered by the Company Court on 2 February 2002.
After 2004 the activities of HUN-IDA became even more visible once the organisation had won an appointment from the Foreign Ministry to be the Executive Institution of the Hungarian bilateral development cooperation (NEFE – International Development Cooperation) programme. HUN-IDA was reappointed for a second time in September 2006 for another three years.
Our cooperating partners have so far included the European Commission, the Council of Europe, InWent, GTZ, the government of the Netherlands, the UNDP, the CIDA, the World Bank, the Soros Foundation, and the governments of the 19 beneficiary countries. At present we are working on developing further bilateral cooperation with a few EU Member States mainly with the EU-15 in order to fully exploit the comparative advantages Hungary may have, and simultaneously receive information from the donors having a long tradition of development cooperation activities. This is one of the possible and practical ways for a new donor country to expand its national capacities while already fulfilling its obligations arising out of being a member of the EU donor community.
If you would like to get further information about us or you are one of our potential participants or clients of our programmes or can possibly become our partner in development, please contact us. Our staff and myself will be happy to provide you with any further details of our work whatever your field of interest may be.
Best regards,
